IVAN GREENBERG

Ivan Greenberg was born in Ithaca, NY, and grew up in Manhattan in the shadow of Soho, then a thriving art district. Greenberg paints faces and abstract shapes in an evolving Neo-expressionistic style with diverse influences shaping his art from second-generation Abstract Expressionism to self-taught, Outsider art. He has exhibited in solo and group shows since 1994. His most recent exhibits were at the A-forest Gallery, APW Gallery, and Aeon Logic Art Gallery in New York City, as well as at the Ben Navaee Gallery in Toronto. His art is featured in several publicatiions: New Art International (1996, 1998); Harvests of New Millennium (2010, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016); and Studio Visit (2013, 2014). In 2015, Cyberwit in India published a book of his art, Facing the Future: Paintings, 2007-2010. For several years, Greenberg taught U.S. History at the college level. He has written two historical nonfiction books,The Dangers of Dissent (Rowman and Littlefield/Lexington Books, 2010) and Surveillance in America (2012), about attacks on civil liberties in the recent American past. He is completing a graphic novel to be published in 2017.
